Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information uOrder ("we", "us") collects when you use our website, apps and WhatsApp ordering, why we collect it, and your rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

1. Information we collect

• Account details: your name, phone number, email address and date of birth.
• Delivery details: addresses, landmarks, map pins, house descriptions and notes for the rider.
• Orders: what you order, from which store, payments, tips, refunds and ratings.
• Age and health related items: an ID photo to confirm you are 18 or older for alcohol and some medicine, and prescriptions you upload for pharmacy orders.
• Messages and photos: chats with riders and support, voice notes and list photos you send, and delivery photos of your order at the door.
• Device and usage data: IP address, browser type, pages visited and error reports, used to keep the service secure and working.

2. Why we use it

• To take, prepare, deliver and support your orders and parcel collections.
• To confirm your age or prescription where the law requires it.
• To send order updates by SMS, email or WhatsApp.
• To prevent fraud and keep customers, riders and stores safe.
• To send offers, only if you have agreed. You can opt out at any time.

3. Who we share it with

We share only what is needed: the store that prepares your order, the rider who delivers it, payment providers, and service providers who host our systems. Prescriptions are shared only with the pharmacist. We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information when the law requires it.

4. How long we keep it

We keep order records for as long as tax and consumer law require. ID and prescription images are kept only as long as needed to verify you, then deleted or archived securely. Delivery photos are kept for 90 days.

5. How we protect it

We use encrypted connections, access controls, two-step sign-in for staff, activity logs and regular backups. No system is perfect; if a breach affects you we will tell you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

6. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to protect forms. We do not use advertising cookies on this website.

7. Your rights

You may ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, object to its use for marketing, and withdraw consent. Contact our Information Officer at order@vergeon.co.za. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforeg.org.za.

8. Children

Our service is for people 18 and older. Age-restricted items are never delivered to anyone under 18.
